Where’s Rosie
By Bobby Baker in New Year on January 8, 2022
Wow! It’s 2022. Did you know that The Jetson’s cartoon took place in the 1980s? Aren’t we supposed to be flying around in little space cars and have a robot maid named ‘Rosie’? I guess the difference between make-believe and reality. Over the past two years, our reality has changed dramatically, and let me tell you, it’s not going to get any better. ‘Normal’ doesn’t exist anymore. If you watch much TV you have probably noticed that most TV programs and commercials include same-sex couples. This is an attempt to normalize what the Bible calls an abomination. But how do we, and by ‘we’ I mean those who are true followers of Christ, supposed to respond to all this? What does the future hold in store for us? Fortunately, we don’t have to guess because the Bible tells us what’s in store for us. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 says,
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
This is the world in which we now live. Today, more than at any other time in history, the world is ready for a world ruler. The Bible calls him the Antichrist. For believers, a time of intense persecution is coming. For most of the world, this persecution has been ongoing for quite some time. Our freedoms have slowly been taken from us by clever deception here in America. The past two years have paved the way for those in power to institute totalitarianism. But this is not about politics or our freedoms as Americans. Today, true believers should be looking up for our redemption draws near (Luke 21:28). James tells us to count it all joy when we face the fiery trials that are about to come upon us (James 1:2). I believe that the testing of our faith is coming. Let us stand firm upon the Word of God. Let us keep our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. This is not a time for fear but a time to be bold and courageous. When the storms and winds of adversity come upon us, we will be anchored to the Rock that cannot be moved if we keep our focus on Him. Let us endure the discipline of our Father that we may share in His holiness (Heb. 12:10). He is conforming us to the image of His Son. Let us lift our drooping hands and strengthen our weak knees. Christ is our Strength. He is our Hope. Let us not fear what the world and Satan may do to us but stand in faith upon the promises of our God!
